OKB MEI history | Academician Vladimir Kotelnikov, the founder of OKB MEI, was the leader of the branch 1947-1957 |
In 1947 under the regulation of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for the purpose of jet arming the Branch of special works was established in the Moscow Energy Institute. Since 1967 it is called Special Design Bureau of Moscow Energy Institute - OKB MEI. In 2000, OKB MEI became a Federal State Unitary Enterprise and became known as FSUE OKB MEI.
1947-1957: Works on the development of rocket technology: the trajectory measurement system "Indicator D", phasometric system "Irtysh", radio telemetry systems: "Indicator T", "Tral", providing a testing of the first intercontinental rocket and and the first launcher R-7, space radiotelemetry system installed on satellite "Sputnik-2", stations and equipment for trajectory radio control. | Academian Alexei Bogomolov From 1957 to 1989 OKB MEI Chief Designer |
1958-1966: OKB MEI takes part in programs of space exploration: complex of trajectory and telemetry measurements using on-board storage for satellite "Sputnik-3", television system "Tral-T" to monitor the biological specialists behavior in a state of zero-gravity, development of rado telemetry, trajectory and television systems, which provided flight of the first manned spacecraft in the world - "Vostok" with cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Creating the first domestic telemetry station "Tral-K" with the magnetic data registration, creating of the information-measurement system on the basis of "Tral" equipment for satellites of the "Cosmos" series. The beginning of the "Soviet cosmovision" creation - space television system "Topaz - 25", working in the Broadcast Standards. Transmitting of the television and telemetry information of the first-ever cosmonaut A. Leonov's exit in outer space. 1967-1975: Activity connected with radiotelemetry, radiolocation, trajectory measurements, space television, communications: Radio Engineering System of trajectory measurements "Kuban". High-performance antennas TNA-57, systems of receiving stations "Orbit" for the complex of space television and communications "Orbit-Molnia". Precision correlation-phase locator "Raduga". Multi-mission high-informative radiotelemetry system - "Orbit-TM'. The first testing of laser rangefinder "KARAT" together with the "radar-TM". Participation in the development, launch and management of Indian satellites "Ariabata", "Bhaskara-1, 2". | From 1989 to 2004 OKB MEI was led by Konstantin Pobedonostsev |
1978-2004: Precise trajectory measurements laser station for far radar detection systems calibration- "Atok". Creation of high-informative space television system "Fragment" for Earth observation from space. Development of high precision coherent radar "Kama-IR and multichannel phasometric system "Veer".
Development of the combined telemetry, trajectory and retransmission system "Orbit-TRTK" for the aircraft command-measuring points. Producing of a side-scan radar for spacecraft "Venera-15/16", which provided the first in the world mapping the planet Venus northern hemisphere. The end of radio telescope TNA-1500 construction in the "Bear lakes". It's dish diameter is 64 m. The establishment of ground stations "India-1", "India-2", "India-3" to control the Indian "IRS1 A, B, C, D" satellites.

| The end of radio telescope TNA-1500 with dish diameter 64 m construction on the "Bear LAkes" |
The first fundamental experiment under pulsar radio astronomy at the Radio telescope TNA-1500 in Kalyazine, as a basis for the establishment of precision sample of space and frequency (time).
From 2004 to 2005 OKB MEI was led by Yuri Bugayev. In this period putting into operation of the Russian space communications network "Sberkom" took place. And also launch of two-band side-scan radar and super-widerange radiometric complex as a part of "Priroda" module of manned "Mir" station were held. Since April 2005, the general manager FSUE OKB MEI was appointed candidate of technical sciences Chebotarev Alexander. He is the laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, awarded "For Military Merit" and medals.
2005-2007: The creation of compact on-board telemetry equipment "Orbit-IVMO" and ground receiving-recording stations MRRS. Deployment of the works connected with the new generation of corellation-phase locators like "Rhythm" creation, developement of the elements of space control systems and a new generation of on-board telemetry systems RSN "Angara". Fundamental modernization of ground complex for spacecraft in deep space control.
| | Chebotarev Aleksandr | Start of producing of the elements for ground complex for spacecraft control, under the program of East control poin deployment. Completion of a set of special-purpose antennas "Otlichie" and of the space agency communication network "Zont". Beginning of the works on the development of new measurements systems, a new image of special space-based antenna systems and the completion of previous generation SAR tests. Deployment of the works on the creation "RSN Angara" video system.
