In April 2007 collective of Special Design Bureau of Moscow Power Institute (FSUE OKB MEI)celebrates its sixtieth anniversary. OKB MEI was established at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in the second year after the end of the Great Patriotic War, on the initiative of OKB MEI scientists and teachers who wanted to contribute to providing of native land defense capacity, as well as to increase the level of training in the field of radio and electronics. As soon as possible it has grown a strong scientific and construction organization, which took the adwanced position in the missile and space technology. Thanks to the innovativeness of it's developments, the youth enthusiasm and talented managers OKB MEI quickly acquired the reputetion among the missilemen - the creators of the first artificial Earth satellites and spacecrafts.

Created in OKB MEI measuring complexes, systems and devices provided and still provide test launches and flights of military rockets; from the first satellites in 1957 to the today's geostationary satellites; spacecrafts and the stations from the Gagarin's "Vostok" to "MIR" and the ISS. We decided a number of priority tasks of government, establishing for the first time in the USSR, and, in some cases, for the first time in the world, hardware and systems that allowed our country to become a space power, to deploy a large-scale television broadcast, to study near and far space and strengthen the defense capacity.

Incurring the known losses in the 90 - s, together with the entire branch of the rocket and space technology, OKB MEI collective succeeded in to retain the basic stuff, themes and traditions of the advanced scientific and design organization based on the unity of science, education, design and production activities.

Today OKB MEI is among the leading organizations of rocket and space industry and makes a significant contribution to the Russian space program and international cooperation in space. Unique OKB MEI scientific and technical complexes, vast experience in the development and operation of the serial, and custom-tech products and systems enable OKB MEI maintain the high reputation of enterprises in Russia and abroad and to compete successfully with the world's leading companies in the field of development of space technologies and communication tools.

I warmly congratulate you on the 60 anniversary of your enterprise founding - now one of the world's leading research and production centers in space radioelectronics in Russia.

Established at a difficult time for our country, OKB MEI from the first days successfully solved the difficult tasks associated with the establishment of the missile shield of our homeland. It is impossible to overestimate the contribution of your company to the development of the domestic space. Starting with the first launcher R-7 and the first manned spacecraft "Vostok", the development of information systems and television systems was assigned to OKB MEI.

A distinctive feature of your design office is that the collective started in the tasks considered intractable, and has successfully served them.
